VIEW FROM TRENGWAINTON CARN sometimes known as Madron Carn Gorse lights up the landscape with bright gold heralding Spring.
April 2006

The ancient stone cross near Trengwainton Carn, framed by the golden gorse, once marked the Churchway that ran from Bojewjan in St Just Parish below Chun Castle through Great Bosullow and Boswarva to Madron.

Chun Castle overlooks the Parish of Madron to the South East. This huge Hill Fort was built in the third century BC. It was built entirely of stone some 280ft / 85m in diameter. It is said that much of the original stone in the walls, once up to 20ft in height were used in the building of Penzance but the site is still very impressive.
Chun Quoit close to the Hill Fort is a Neolithic Penwith Chamber tomb, the only perfect example of it's type remaining. Built around 3000BC.
